Breath of the Wild sequel in the works

This trailer is all we have so far, but it does appear to be a full-fledged sequel to BotW (rather than, say, DLC).

Zelda looks very cute with her shorter hair.

I wonder if that underground area suggests some dungeon-crawling. Other than that it's early in development so all I have left to say is "spooky" and "ganondorf is a dick lol."

I know we have next to nothing to go on, but my thoughts so far are thus:

- There are heavy MM and TP vibes here. As these are my two favorite installments, I am tentatively excited.

- Because there are MM and TP vibes, I will inevitably be disappointed if it doesn't end up being uncanny and weird. Based on creepy zombie face, that seems like a safe bet to make so far, but you can never know just from trailers. If it ends up being lacking in the horror-ish setting/concept department I'll definitely feel let down because I'll be comparing it to these previous installments which I love.

- As a direct sequel to an exploration-based game they're gonna have to pretty majorly change up the world to make it worth exploring again. Personally, BOTW's more open progression actually put me off of it - I watched gameplay and it looks like a phenomenal game, but not one whose concept I enjoy playing - so I would be STOKED if the sequel is more linear in nature. I know this is a hashtag unpopular opinion, but it's honestly gonna be a factor in whether I buy this or not. Related, MM worked as a sequel because despite reusing assets and UI it changed everything the **** up.... I have decent hopes this will do the same.

It'll be cool to see more. Since all we can go off of right now is the aesthetic direction, I am STOKED. But if the gameplay/progression design is too much like BOTW I might end up just watching other people play it, again. We'll see!

Obviously this is very early and a lot can change but I am ALL IN on a "dark Zelda ala MM/TP" version of BotW.

Now take you bets: is the title going to be X of the Wild or Breath of the X?

Corpse of the Ganon

Stuff: The undead corpse is really obviously Ganondorf via the headdress (same as TP Ganon), and Gerudo symbols. A temple/crypt? entrance is shown featuring a sphinx-like motif which hearkens back to the Spirit Temple in Ocarina. The body's position is the same as the one in which Ganondorf was stabbed, in Twilight Princess. The wound is in the same position as where that same Ganondorf was run through by the Master Sword. The music theme playing over the trailer is a distorted version of the Game Over theme from the first the Legend of Zelda.
I muttered 'light as a board, stiff as a feather' for 2 days straight and now I've ascended, ;aughing at olympus and zeus is crying

I would have phrased that “darker LIKE” MM as opposed to “darker THAN” because MM was basically horror lite and without going full actual horror I don’t see how it is actually going to be darker..... no need to pit them against each other like this..... :,(

I’m really pleased to see that’s the direction it’ll be taking though. Spooky Zelda is best Zelda

That quote can be read as it simply being darker than BotW.

It could also be read as the trailer being darker than the rest of BotW2. They didn't link to the original transcript, unfortunately, so there's no way to know.

Nothing like an ambiguous quote. :p

Well the internet is now convinced BOTW2 is going to be darker and edgier than Majora’s Mask so I’m sure setting that extreme expectation when the game has barely even been teased can only go over well. :p

I don't really have anything else to say in this thread, but that emoji has been in two posts in a row and I want to make it three. :p

As a fan of the Edgy Zeldas I’m very excited to see that tone combined with the vast world of BotW. They could do some cool heckin crap with this.
