Theory about Hyrule Warriors

#1

Post by ScottyMcGee » Tue Jun 10, 2014 12:03 am

I've been wanting to bring this up but kept forgetting.

Of course, all of this can be squashed with new incoming information as the year goes on. But so far with Hyrule Warriors:

- not a "real" Zelda game
-yet has the style of Skyward Sword and has Skyward Sword style Link and Impa
-doesn't necessarily seem to be in the timeline but yet doesn't seem to tread over anything either, and if the above is absolutely true (the same Link and Impa from SS), then it takes place after Skyward Sword

Thus, I think Hyrule Warriors will be about the people of Skyloft populating Hyrule and fending off the hordes of evil creatures, now that they have their goddess-appointed hero Link to lead them. This wouldn't necessarily be a major story, just like it's not really a major Zelda game, but something like that wouldn't need a grand story anyway to bridge Skyward Sword into the timeline.

ALSO: What do you think the chances are of them including bonus characters to goof around in? Playable OoT Ganondorf or something like that?

We've seen a scant four pages about the game from a magazine. I think it's way too early to take that as fact. ;)

Not to mention that Zelda is a "princess" and "Hyrule Castle" already exists. That's pretty fast dominationeering of the ground if you ask me. ;) [DOUBLEPOST=1402383260,1402383227][/DOUBLEPOST][QUOTE="ScottyMcGee, post: 1468441, member: 31048"]ALSO: What do you think the chances are of them including bonus characters to goof around in? There are almost certainly more characters than Link, Impa, and the mystery third character.

Having a ridiculous amount of characters is the trademark and appeal of Musou games.

Midna and Zelda confirmed. Also, creepy Great Fairy. Ganondorf also makes a cameo.

So then Hyrule Warriors likely exists on the Child Timeline, no?

I think this takes place on the "Fanservice" timeline.

I don't know anything about Dynasty Warriors. Are they like arcade games? Or do they have stories and objectives?

It's more like "WAR IS HAPPENING FIGHT EVERYONE WHO ISN'T THE SAME COLOR AS YOU"

Just because it has characters from other games doesn't necessary mean it won't take place in an official timeline spot. Like I said, having the other characters there as playable is just for **** and giggles, while at the same time they could have a main story mode or something.

Just quoting this to say that I bloody called it. :D

Midna and Zelda look awesome, and I'm so glad they were included. Sounds like there'll be more characters too. Officially excited for this game now.[DOUBLEPOST=1402452618,1402452549][/DOUBLEPOST][QUOTE="ScottyMcGee, post: 1468643, member: 31048"]Just because it has characters from other games doesn't necessary mean it won't take place in an official timeline spot. Well, technically you are correct. But I think the odds of this start to dwindle as time goes on. :p

From the wikipediapage:
The game is set in the fictional kingdom of Hyrule, and stars a new incarnation of series protagonist Link as a Hylian soldier-in-training.[3] At some point in the story the Princess of Hyrule, Zelda, is kidnapped by a witch named Cia. Formerly the protector of the Triforce, Cia, a good person at heart, becomes corrupted when she falls in love with Link and grows jealous of Zelda's familiarity with him. Sending out her subordinates Wizro and Valga, who are modeled after the Wizzrobe and Volvagia enemies from previous games, she wages war against Hyrule and prompts Link, and Zelda's protector Impa, to restore balance to the land.

Aonuma: Within the Zelda canon, there is the timeline, but there has always been the sense of the main story and kind of a side story. Like, Majora's Mask might be considered part of that, though it does exist as part of the timeline. With Hyrule Warriors, there is a link between the two, but it exists as a separate dimension, so it doesn't exist as part of the main canon. Lately I have been thinking of it similar to The Avengers.

Aonuma: Maybe if you force it in somewhere, but that's not something we want to do. The universe of Hyrule Warriors really is sort of a different universe and it is connected to the timeline of the Zelda series, but it is connected to several different games throughout the series. If you try and force this into it here [Aonuma places his hands in the air indicating different levels of the timeline], then…that information might not be complete. We really don't want to put it in the timeline because it has links to the different parts of the timeline.
Would've been a cool way to work it in, though.

Essentially it's not "canon". It's a different type of game using Zelda characters.

Lost all interest, may give it a play for kicks but won't be seriously interested.
