Fishing in Zelda

Obviously I'm making this thread in reference to the MAD FISHING REVAMPS that went into MM3DS, but also wanted to talk in general about the chillest and yet most frustrating of Zelda pastimes.

Like, I knew about the Sinking Lure in OoT because of a massive walk through my sister printed out (when it wasn't so easy to just look it up on your phone lmao) but I could NEVER get it. I know it's invisible but damn. Am I the only one with this issue? Is it easy to get? Anyone here nab the Hylian Loach?

Also I have to say fishing in MM3DS is so rad.
Not only are there a billion types of fish that you use the masks to catch ((YOU GET TO CATCH THE SKELETON FISH HOW RAD IS THAT)) but then there are BOSS FISH that you have to lure out by getting them to eat other fish on your line? It's hardcore. I've currently caught every fish in the Ocean Fishing Hole except for the Great Fairy Fish which refuses to spawn. The Internet is also giving mixed reviews about how to make its appearance rate go up.
Anyway yall should try fishing in MM it's interesting plus the ponds are pretty

((Anyone figure out fishing in TP? I gave up at that bc I was so bad at it except for the 2 times the game made me lol))

The new fishing system in MM3DS sounds pretty rad.

I fished to nab that one Piece of Heart in OoT, and to advance the plot in TP, but other than that I've ignored it.

JUST CAUGHT THE SUPER MEGA BOSS FISH IN OCEAN FISHING POND

^^ that post is misinformed. For the most difficult fish you need just a fairy fish and a great fairy fish to both spawn. Plus I just caught it at like midnight after luring it out around 4PM, so. Its spawn rate apparently goes up if you have caught a **** ton of fish in the same 3 day cycle. If you just exit and enter a lot on the 3rd day after fishing all day the first 2 days you should get it

Fierce deity mask helps with the swordfish which is way easier to spawn than great fairy fish (I caught it on like day 2 of the 3 day cycle) ((catching a bunch of fish same 3 day cycle also improved its spawn rate))

Guides are also misinformed online in that you should use the standard lure for the swordfish, not the sinking lure. #trialanderror

I've only ever liked the fishing in Link's Awakening. Not much of a fan, I always skip it.

I loved fishing in TP because of all the different environments the pond had. Played that for entirely too long, but I never managed to make progress with the marble puzzle and motion controls.

OoT's fishing had some fun parts. Never spent too much time with it because the level wasn't very interesting.

LA's fishing is fun, but there's not much to do with it.

I've never made it to the fishing in MM or any other games it's hiding in.

I played OoT into the ground. I think one of the least common things I accomplished was catching the Hylian Loach with the floating lure.

^^ fishing is only in MM3DS in case I didn't specify. Pretty accessible there are two doors in the swamp and ocean that weren't there before

^ THATS POSSIBLE??

I've heard a few people pulled it off. Although it doesn't really matter, you can talk to the guy and make the sinking lure legal.

The only LoZ games where I perfected the fishing minigames were Phantom Hourglass (which wasn't too bad) and Twilight Princess (which took more finesse). I had a lot of fun fishing in TP compared to OoT, though. I also managed to beat every level of that Rollgoal game, too. I really wanted the 100% in TP just for the bragging rights.

I should try TP fishing again. It pissed me off when I first tried so I avoided it unless forced, but I probably was just doing it wrong.

Nah, it pissed me off too. The setting was cool and all but it just didn't fully work in a pleasing way, like most stuff with motion controls. IMO it should mostly just be like Animal Crossing. Simple and effective, with a reveal.

tbh MM fishing pissed me off too until I read a guide online explaining you have to hold the control stick opposite the direction of the fish when it goes rigid. fishing tutorials in game are really not helpful
