What kinda controller do you use for Smash?
(note: this poll is geared towards Ultimate specifically but if you have other control schemes for different Smash games feel free to comment).
Curious to see what everyone's preferred control scheme is for Smash. Or at least whatever you use the most.
I use a Smash 4-era Gamecube controller with a 3rd-party four-port adapter.

Generally I use joycons in the grip because that's what's fully charged. We also have a third-party Pro and a SNES-style controller.

I bought one of the official GameCube controllers when they relaunched them last year. But I also didn't play Smash for very long, so it's really my Dolphin controller.

For Ultimate: Grip Joycons, Pro, Cube, or Handheld. I do not understand Single Joycon, & I've never actually tried Separate Paired Joycons because it reminds me of Nunchuck style in Brawl.
For Smash 4: Cube, Pro, Classic, or Gamepad.
For Brawl: Cube or Classic. I hate Solo Wiimote, & I'm not fond of Nunchuck either.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

When I'm playing Smash online or by myself it's almost exclusively in handheld mode
When I'm playing on TV I use a gamecube controller

For Ultimate I deliberately use a Switch Pro Controller instead of a GCN controller. I feel like this helps me differentiate between Melee and Ultimate in my muscle memory.

I haven't played any Smash but the N64 one in years. So, the N64 controller, by default.

Re: What kinda controller do you use for Smash?
I have gone through multiple controllers having issues. I kind of wasted money on a couple PowerA controllers that didn't do it for me. I ended up tearing the padding on joystick off one of them. Then there was this Link-themed GC controller for the Switch that is a complete travesty. The joystick is so loose. How do they expect you to play with it?
I settled with the good old GC controller after having it repaired by a retro gaming store.
