Shenmue is cool, but not as cool as the trailer for "Puss!" is. It makes me want to play it but I know I'll suck at it and quit almost right away.

Streaming off of Steam is insanely easy, you just open OBS and say “put my Steam window in your Twitch machine” and it happens

I want to defend Shenmue so badly but I haven't played it so I'm just going to reiterate that it's cool, because it is, even if it plays bad.

Key sent.

It's an interesting idea executed as badly as it is possible to execute an idea given a technically competent dev team. The whole game is just waiting for minor events.

I'll advertise it on the discord and in WoT. Might do a test stream of something before then.

It's real bad.

I know this is not an effective way to get rid of the key, but I must be responsible and tell you games should not be allowed to be that bad.

Like, not even funny bad. You just stand around doing nothing for ages and then get three seconds of dialogue and stand around again. It's not even good dialogue.

I've never seen someone thrash Shenmue this badly before.

He's right... to a point at least. If you don't like walking around aimlessly taking in minor events and managing your time, you're just going to get frustrated waiting for the plot to move. It's Dead Rising but longer and without Fly Routine.

In my experience it's pretty common to think Shenmue is crap, but you don't hear it much because you don't hear much about Shenmue in general.

Anyway, I'll give it credit for the fact we likely wouldn't have games like Yakuza and Persona without it, but those games have completely outclassed it in every imaginable way. It isn't even time management, at least not in the few hours I played. You stand around waiting all day for some store to open, then you get three seconds of terribly written and barely acted dialogue that basically tells you to do that again the next day, but maybe with a brief QTE this time. And then you fill the 20 real minutes it takes for the clock to advance with virtual gacha or talking to NPCs who even Ryu can't muster more than an "I see..." in response to.

Yeah, but usually at worst it's like "Sure it didn't age perfectly, but it's so unique and has real heart to it" and it gets a pass. Never seen someone say "It's trash, and the story is trash and the gameplay is also trash" about Shenmue. Or at least not out loud.

Yeah my entire experience with hearing about the game has essentially been "it is a touchstone game in the things it does and i respect it's place in gaming history but it is not an extremely appealing game to a modern gamer"

Opus Magnum was in this month's bundle. It's a great puzzle game, but I've already got it. @S1x maybe something you'd like?
