He made a bunch of the creepy Windows screenshot images I've shared (some were made by me/other people). Cool dude.

Doves are just white pigeons.

Doves do exist but they're called mourning doves. Rock doves aka homing and racing pigeons is the misconception. Pretty unfair practice in the wedding industry usually done by people who aren't professionals. Companies will buy pigeons at 6 dollars on the bird release them with little to no training and they're 9 times out of 10 going to die by a predator, disease, or starvation if they get lost on the way home while the company pockets a 600% profit. These aren't naturally born birds with instincts on how to find food or find the coop without proper training. White homers are easily picked off by predators, they stand out from the ground when flying below a bird of prey. If the pigeon coop is 6 miles away from their release, but they've only ever flown around the neighborhood where the coop is. Chances are that bird is a goner. It's one thing to own these birds personally and let them out of their coop to explore and fly around and hope they come home. They start out with a month or two stuck to the confines of the coop.

Coops that are properly set up allow the birds to leave their nesting boxes and see your backyard and their immediate surroundings. After they've been fed for that time period and are used to your presence you let them out for their first flight. You break routine and withhold food the night before only once. Before you let them out you get up on your roof and throw an orange tarp up where it can be seen from the sky. Or on your lawn where there are no trees. That's their landmark. Release is usually done about 4 hours before the sun goes down and if all goes well they'll fly around your house for a little while then head back into the coop before the sun starts to set expecting to be fed. Most coops are rigged so once they fly into the coop they can't fly back out. Repeat this routine enough and you don't have to worry about anything except a hawk picking a bird off occasionally if you have a ton of hawks in your area.

It takes over a year to fully train a bird confidently and you WILL lose birds along the way but it's either that or imprison them for the rest of their lives. If they don't fly within the first few months they can never be released for free flight. That's why I say it's an unfair practice. Lots of people who only care about the bottom line and don't care one lick about the birds they lose along the way.

Comic Sans was based on the lettering in Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns.

Today I learned that my company changed its uniform guidelines last month. Apparently people now have to wear solid-colour or patterned collared shirts. I learned it this morning at the end of my shift from a co-worker in a button-up long-sleeved shirt. I was wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles tee-shirt at the time.

...being a third-shifter is cool. You don't have to follow stupid-ass arbitrary rules, or even know they exist.

glad the only thing I retained from my one semester of ridiculously intensive geology could brighten someone's day.

OK so you know when you press the home button on a Wii game and that menu pops up that lets you reset, go to Wii menu, etc.?

That menu is not actually part of the Wii's OS; it's all happening within the disc/software and had to be programmed into every single game.

Andrew Jackson's pet parrot had to be forcibly removed from his funeral service because it wouldn't stop shouting profanities.
