The dialogue in Over the Garden Wall is excellent. It feels real and is funny without falling into the "trying too hard to be Relatable" schtick that a lot of shows overstep into.

I should re-watch it.

...I really like musicals. Some of them.

The favouritests are 'Music Man' and '1776' and 'Lame Is' and 'Singin in the Rain'. And I believe I'd empty out my mostly-empty wallet to see a real broadway rendition of all of 'Count of Monte Cristo'.

And so I turn on the so-called broadway channel during my commute from the store, and ninetey nine percent of the time it's the garbageyest crap imaginable. I don't want to hear this wank-----------where is "Moses Supposes"? Is that so hard to clap a damn hand on? Or how about "Shoeless Joe From Hannibal, MO", or "Belly Up To the Bar", or "Pore Jud is Daid"? It's all this pathetic rah-rah made-up crap and I hate it. Andrew Lloyd Webber can go eat a bag of sh*t-----------I wanna hear 'Hard-Knock Life', damn it!

...so I've been thinking a lot about this, lately.

Sooner or later, I'm going to move into a smaller place. And so I'm going to need to get rid of my lego pirate ships. Most of them. I might keep the favourites.

...I mean, I could sell them for lots and lots of money. But what I really want is to...like, let my mom take them to her school, and just have them up on display in her hallway windows, so that kids can look at them as they walk past the library, and be all like 'oh man, that's rad'.

You know, no kid is going to look up at the Black Sea Barracuda and go, 'hey, it's the Black Sea Barracuda'. One kid is gonna go, 'hey, Captain Jack Sparrow is about to hoodwink the royal navy again', and another kid will go, 'man, I bet Captain Hook and Smee gots Tiger Lily tied up in the cargo hold--------how will Peter Pan save the day this time?', and kid three will be all, 'oh, Jim Hawkins is in the crows nest, and he's gonna shoot that bad guy with his twin flintlocks!', and then the fourth kid will say 'jeepers, Ahab is about to nail the gold piece to the masthead!', and fifth kid will go 'oh, no------Lord Nelson is mortally wounded, and he's going to command Hardy not to let the men know he's dying'. And kid six will go 'the giant squid is about to attack the Obra Dinn! Holy cripes!', and kid seven will go, 'wuff. Captain Bligh is gonna have Mr. Christian whipped for insolence. The mutiny is inevitable now,' and the weird eighth kid will be all 'Hehe. Shirley Temple is going to come do 'Good Ship Lollipop'.'

A boat, a plank...a stick is anything kids can dream. I want to give something to kids-------there is nothing in my life I have ever enjoyed as much as the look of pure delight in little Iree's face the first time I flew her. I haven't been a camp counselor in so long. It's a hole in my soul, man.

So. I like Harry Potter biz, but I don't know it as well as I know Star Wars or Star Trek.

Can anyone tell me why 'mudblood' is considered a horrible slur?

I mean, let's really look at this. A mudblood is a wizard who has a non-wizard parent, yes? Well, so, this slur is used by people who have two wizarding parents. So wizard aptitude must be at least partially genetic------------wizards with two wizard parents must generally be more powerful than wizards with mixed heritage, or else it wouldn't be a thing to look down on your mudbloods. It's a matter of purity, yes?

So doesn't a pursuit of certain genetic traits lead invariably to inbreeding? I mean, magic folk are in the extreme minority, aren't they. If you keep it in the ghetto long enough, all the kids eventually look the same and wind up with weak chins and haemophilia.

I mean, how far back do you have to go in the Malfoy family tree before you find a pair of cousins? Just asking. Like, next time Draco calls Hermione a mudblood, she could just say, "Your parents were probably related before they married. I'm a girl, and I can punch harder than you can. Do you have any genetic maladies? Colourblindness, perhaps, or sickle-cell?" Brush him off like the dandruff he is.

its been a while but i feel like inbreeding has to be at least a little bit implied about the "pureblood" wizards

It's still a slur because it's a derogatory term for one's parentage created for the sole purpose of serving as an insult, even if the person saying it is an inbred elitist scumbag.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Well, that's what I'm saying. The mudbloods should take 'mudblood' back. Own it. Wear "Mudblood Pride" shirts. Also Hermione should coax Draco into calling her a mudblood in front of Snape, because I think it'd be really funny to see Snape shoot Draco right in the weenie with a Magic Missile whilst laughing in demoniacal fury. 'Go eat a big old bag of sh*t, you mean little ratzi scumbucket!' Then he and Hermione high-five, or chest-bump, or do respect knuckles, or do gun-fingers, or do a cool intricate gangsta hand-shake, or whatever the wizard equivalent is.

Hmmm. I'm totally out of my element, here, aren't I.

Like, even the Star Wars prequels get away from this stuff by saying Jedis aren't allowed to have kids.

Well, there's the whole Luke and Leia thing. At least the prequels didn't have that.

Oh, do stop, would you kindly.

Obviously Luke and Leia didn't know they were siblings. They were literal worlds apart, here.

It was innocent. They both needed something. Luke was a sad orphan who'd just lost all of his adoptive parents. Leia was a princess who had a weird atlantic katherine hepburn accent on occasion, and her planet just got kasploded. So yeah, they clung together, sometimes. Couple of lost little weirdoes in a harsh cruel universe.

They didn't know they were brother and sister, man. They hugged, and even kissed, yes, but it was innocent. They were real good kids.

Still, sure would've been nice if good ol' Obi had maybe gave him a vague warning hint or something.

...Porter Wagoner's jacket is the sparkliest thing I've ever seen.

I mean, it's easy to think about all the tough outlaw country dudes like Johnny, and Willie, and Waylon. But there's that whole rhinestone side of country, with your Roy Orbisons and Dolly Partons. Elvis.

Charlie Daniels kind of straddled the line.

I don't like Discord, its cluttered and maze-like design is unwelcoming. This here boomer prefers AIM.
