Yeah NY is sending telling all non-essential business' to shut down now so that kind of sucks. Don't know how I'm going to finish this kitchen renovation so I can have a sink and a stove...kinda sucks. Been rough without it. Looks like I'm gonna be spending my nights at my parent's house.
Dunno if NY is different than CA but last I checked in (it is constantly changing lol) hardware stores were considered under "essential" and permitted to stay open. Worth calling in?
I'm not sure but I still need the plumber and electrician and they have to buy from stores like Blackman and materials have to come in. Still trying to figure everything out. If home depot and lowes stay open then I'll have some breathing room.

I would think Home Depot/Lowes would be classified as essential businesses, but no way of knowing how long that would last.
Competition is a good thing. It's a chance to crush people.

Yeah, hardware stores are gonna be essential; stuff breaks, & it needs to be fixed for people to live.

Meanwhile in MO: Governor Parson finally caught up with the max-10-people mandate just in time for StL City Mayor Krewson & StL County Exec Page to upgrade us to shelter-in-place*, effective Monday. My wife works for the state; she is still expected to go in on Monday, even though both her home & her workplace are in St. Louis. (I work online, so not a dang thing has changed for me, which kinda sucks, since moving ate up my entire spring break & I'm exhausted & jealous of everyone bragging about all the fun relaxation they're gonna get while they're off work.)

*Minus essential shopping, work, medical travel, emergencies, takeout food,...& walks in the park......it's essentially the same situation we were in before, except no more social/entertainment gatherings at all.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

there have now been confirmed cases in my area, and i'm too liable to die of the coronavirus if i get it because of multiple pre-existing problems, so i'm taking time off work despite having an "essential" job. my boss was surprisingly chill about it

If your boss was not chill about you staying home because of pre existing conditions that could make this fatal for you I would personally teleport over there to punch them in the **** face

I think a lot of employers are finally starting to get the hint that there will be repercussions if they don't allow employees to stay clear of work. Everyone's in the same boat with this virus. I'm glad you were able to get off work.

Our shelves are getting absolutely torn to shreds on a daily basis, man. People are buying literally everything.

...hah. The only aisle not getting obliterated? Candy. People are specifically not buying Wonka bars. Flip the script, homey.

I wanna be there when someone finds the golden ticket in the huge 24=72-pack of Cottonelle. 'Run home, Charlie!'

I wish they'd do more about containing this. Everyone's still running around like normal almost, surely spreading the virus.

combined with the fact that you only get tested if you're already symptomatic or rich it's not looking promising

They should be raining those special masks from the damn sky and enforcing lockdown better. I mean, I feel kinda sheep-like wanting that but I really don't want that virus lol.

Agree, but it's not just them. Really seems like they're gearing up for this pitch.

Which is funny, because chocolate keeps for a long time.

My grandma would shoot me with a shotgun if I came within 50 feet of her house right now. She'd be like, "twas a necessary sacrifice for my cash positions."

She's not putting me as a beneficiary and going outside to congregate in Walmart anytime soon.

By the time most Americans seriously started efforts to flatten the curve, people were already losing work, the market was already dropping massively, and we were talking about the very real possibility that many people would be stuck at home for at least a few weeks if not months, knowing that the economy was only going to take more hits as it went on.

Some states have been taking their sweet time getting their **** together with regards to social distancing efforts while the number of cases grows and grows. Hospitals are starting to feel the brunt of the pandemic, and now people are just saying "what if we just went back to work?"

****ing hell.
