this song is underrated even by this soundtrack's standards

the first 27 seconds are just SO satisfying. the way the instruments all come in and builds to 0:20 where it cuts everything but the kalimba and percussion and it gets me hype every time

^that's because the composer is Kinuyo Yama****a, known for her work on games like Castlevania and Mega Man X3

(good job censoring her name vgf lol)

Maybe if she did X2 I'd allow it but I'm kind of mixed on X3's sound so it'll have to be arbitrarily censored. Please understand, it's for the greater good.

This one actually gets hidden by the game itself because you hear this in the front of the tower and like maybe the first room before it gets replaced by the Under's theme. It's surprisingly uplifting for an illicit Pokemon stadium made to fund a group of criminals that make Pokemon evil.

Despite being a licensed candy math game, the soundtrack here is actually pretty great:

FFCC Crystal Bearers has vast stylistic differences from its predecessor's OST, but it is very good

How many CC games are there? I played the one on GCN all the way through but got stuck on a sequel. All I remember is that bad things happen when you mess with coffins.

Anyway, have another FF theme. The first game spent all its memory on excellent dungeon themes, but the second? All of the fight themes!

Rush 2049's OST is almost all great, but I never knew because you can't hear anything in arcades.

I really, really like the music from the recent Rayman games. I mean, they have to make them catchy and evocative, if you're going to play a level several times...but the ones for the daily and weekly challenges have to be on another level, cos. You're bound to hear them several times a day for months.

Here's my favourite.

'Infinite Tower' and 'Livid Dead' are good too, but they're very intense and minor-key. For me at least, something a little whimsical helps soothe the pain of failing a challenge stage for the hundredth time. It's the honey in the lion.

^By amazing coincidence, I was about to post something from that as well. Ubisoft soundtracks are usually pretty forgettable, but those games are a big exception.

Anyway, nobody talks about Skies of Arcadia's OST because it came out in the late 90's when Uematsu and others had frankly set the standard for JRPG soundtracks way higher than what's on offer here. "Kingdom of Ixa'taka" and "Battle 1" are the only tracks I ever see brought up, which is also fair since they're the best ones, but there are a handful of others worth listening to:

man, i need to play Skies of Arcadia again. That’s one of those games that I rented several times as a kid but never bought it or beat it. That’s a shame.

^^I love the direction that Rayman music has gone recently.

Especially since you can't get it in English for less than $100 anymore. Really wish they'd port it to a modern system so there was a reasonable way of playing it legally. Not that it's hard to find in other ways, but that battle system is really cool and port sales might convince another dev to try something like it again.

As long as I'm posting again: Persona Q gets overlooked because it's a weird spinoff that released on an almost-retired system not long before P5 came out and it's also got a different composer than the other games, but the OST alone makes it worth playing.

If Skies ever made its way to Switch, it would be an insta-buy for me.
