I try not to get my information from Wikipedia or TV Tropes, because anyone can edit them.

Anyone else?

Wikipedia has been shown a couple times to be as accurate as major encyclopedias. Mistakes get through, obviously, but vandals are usually removed quickly.

Additionally, at the bottom of each entry is a reference list, which makes it easy to double check things.

I think wikis are just fine for casual reading. If you're doing more serious research, I wouldn't use a wiki as a source, but it can still be a great jumping-off point.

Yeah Wikipedia can be really nice for finding sources.

Encyclopedias in general aren't great sources for academic research, because they're tertiary, & you wanna be citing primary/secondary sources as often as possible.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

can confirm: wikipedia is a great place to start, you can skim the article for a general overview of the subject, then dive into the provided sources for the meaty stuff (as well as confirming the information is accurate). its a really convenient way to write a paper if you know how to use it correctly.

I learned that Nintendo tried to stop Red Bull, ESL and Twitch from supporting competitive Melee.

Why would they go to the trouble of trying to kill support for the competitive scene of a game they don't even sell anymore?

Does Nintendo think Melee will cannibalize sales of modern SSB games? They must because it's easily one of their most popular NGC games, the system's best seller, and they've rereleased other NGC games. Also, they rereleased SSB64 so they have no problem revisiting past games in the series.

If we don't get it announced for Switch by its 20th anniversary next year, I don't think we ever will. It's annoying because they released NGC controllers and adaptors in acknowledgement of people's control preferences, so why not just let them play the game they want? It's dumb.

Maybe they're ashamed of all those copies floating around with the three-eyed Daisy trophy.

I remember reading about the three-eyed Daisy trophy on David Wonn's Unique Video Game Glitches back in the day and being upset that I didn't have it because I had the player's choice version of the game.
